COMMAND+A Select all text.

COMMAND+X Cut the selected text to the Clipboard.

COMMAND+C Copy the selected text to the Clipboard.

COMMAND+V Paste the contents of the Clipboard.

COMMAND+' Paste the contents of the Clipboard as a quotation.

LEFT ARROW Move the insertion point left one character.

RIGHT ARROW Move the insertion point right one character.

UP ARROW Move the insertion point up one line.

DOWN ARROW Move the insertion point down one line.

OPTION+UP ARROW Move the insertion point to the top of the previous screen, or set the insertion point to the beginning of the current selection.

OPTION+DOWN ARROW Move the insertion point to the bottom of the next screen, or set the insertion point to the end of the current selection.

OPTION+LEFT ARROW Move the insertion point to the beginning of the current or previous word, or set the insertion point to the beginning of the current selection.

OPTION+RIGHT ARROW Move the insertion point to the end of the current or next word, or set the insertion point to the end of the current selection.

DELETE Delete the character to the left of the insertion point, or delete the selected text.

DEL Delete the character to the right of the insertion point, or delete the selected text.

TAB Insert spaces up to the next tab stop or every fifth character position.

Keys for Macintosh style and Microsoft Office style text editing

For the following editing tasks, you can use Microsoft Office or standard Macintosh style keyboard shortcuts. (Outlook Express 4.5 included only Macintosh keyboard shortcuts.)

To turn Microsoft Office keyboard shortcuts on or off, click Preferences on the Edit menu. Click the General tab, and then select or clear the Use Microsoft Office keyboard shortcuts for text editing check box.

COMMAND+LEFT ARROW Move the insertion point to the beginning of the line or to the beginning of the selected text. Move the insertion point to the beginning of the previous word or to the beginning of the selected text.

COMMAND+RIGHT ARROW Move the insertion point to the end of the line or to the end of the selected text. Move the insertion point to the end of the next word or to the end of the selected text.

COMMAND+UP ARROW Move the insertion point to the beginning of a message or to the beginning of the selected text. Move the insertion point to the beginning of the previous paragraph.

CONTROL+DOWN ARROW  Move the insertion point down one line. (Same as DOWN ARROW.) Move the insertion point to the end of the line or to the end of the selected text. (Same as END.)

HOME Scroll to the beginning of the message. Move the insertion point to the beginning of the line or to the beginning of the selected text. (Same as CONTROL+UP ARROW.)

END Scroll to the end of the message. Move the insertion point to the end of the line or to the end of the selected text. (Same as CONTROL+DOWN ARROW.)

COMMAND+HOME Scroll to the beginning of the message. (Same as HOME.) Move the insertion point to the beginning of the message.

COMMAND+END Scroll to the end of the message. (Same as END.) Move the insertion point to the end of the message.

PAGE UP Scroll up one screen. Move the insertion point up one screen.

PAGE DOWN Scroll down one screen. Move the insertion point down one screen.
